Rotherham Charter Gold Award
Staff, parents and carers, children and governors of Thurcroft Infant School have been delighted to receive their Rotherham Charter Gold Award from members of the Charter team. Thurcroft Infant School was one of the first in Rotherham to begin the Charter process.

The Charter is about building trust with parents, carers, children and young people and is based upon promises to welcome and care, value and include, communicate and work in partnership.

Amanda Moreman (Management Committee of Rotherham Forum and member of the Charter accreditation team) said “We had a brilliant visit to the school and saw some wonderful practice. There were great examples of parents, staff and children working together, listening to each other and learning together. We’ve heard about the wonderful trips the children go on and how much they enjoy it when parents and other family members join in activities at school, and how the Parent Voice group have been taking a lead on developing the school’s positive behaviour policy.”
Parents have told the Charter team that staff at the school go ‘above and beyond’ what might be expected in supporting difficult family circumstances. There is an open door policy for parents and children and staff are “really, really approachable”, offering “care and support”.

Joanne Askew, leading the team awarding the school with their Charter Gold says, “Staff at Thurcroft Infant School have embraced the Charter values in a natural and down to earth manner, but behind the approach lies much hard work, dedication and commitment. The determination to build relationships and reach out to all is a fabulous achievement.”
We have achieved the Rotherham Charter Gold Award for the third time. The charter is our commitment to care, inclusion and communication to work in partnership with you and your children so that together we achieve our potential.
Well done children, staff, parents, carers and governors of Thurcroft Infant School!
